The Danish EPA has found illegal levels of the sensitiser chromium VI in leather goods intended for contact with human skin.
The EPA’s investigation checked if the products complied with permitted concentration limits for the substance. Seventy-four products were tested during 2018 but as more than one part was analysed on some, 94 samples were tested in total. The findings were published in a report on 30 September.
The investigation also assessed whether cobalt in the tested products posed an allergy risk when used and found it did not.
