Food is essential to our daily life. Both producers and consumers want food to be safe. However, in order to improve food production, pesticide/herbicide is widely used in agriculture. Over-use of pesticides can lead to hazardous chemicals entering the food chain. Therefore, much concerns have been raised about the risks of pesticide residues in food, because most pesticides show a high degree of toxicity, such as causing decline in human immunity; damaging liver and kidney; inducing anemia, peeling, and even leukemia. They can also cause female infertility or fetal malformation, and may even harm the growth and development of the child before the age of 16. Poisoning caused by pesticide residues is particularly prominent in developing countries, and the European Union has banned the import of some agricultural commodities from developing countries for some times. As of June 2016, foods banned from exporting to Europe include beans, sesame seeds, melon seeds, dried fish and meat, peanut chips and palm oil. [1]
As an analytical testing company with extensive experience in pesticide/herbicide residue analysis, Alfa Chemistry possesses a wide range of techniques to test and analyze various pesticides. We offer a wide range of agricultural tests, including analysis of raw agricultural products, processed agricultural products, soil, plant and water.
