The client required a comprehensive comparative deformulation (reverse engineering) analysis to identify and quantify the exact variations in base polymers, fillers, heat stabilizers, and functional additives between the two samples.

Through meticulous extraction and material characterization, our laboratory successfully reverse-engineered both formulations. While both samples shared a foundational baseline—utilizing similar impact modifiers, polyethylene waxes, UV absorbers, and light stabilizers—our comparative analysis revealed several critical, strategic divergences in their formulation architectures:

• Polymer Matrix and Filler Loadings: We observed a distinct difference in the base resin-to-filler ratios. Sample 2 contained a noticeably higher concentration of the base PVC polymer. Conversely, Sample 1 utilized a significantly heavier loading of inorganic fillers, specifically calcium carbonate. This indicates that Sample 1's formulation leverages calcium carbonate as a cost-reducing extender, which can impact the mechanical rigidity and overall weight of the final pipe.
• Divergent Heat Stabilization Systems: The most significant formulation variance was found in the heat stabilization mechanisms used to prevent polymer degradation during high-temperature extrusion. Sample 1 employed a complex, mixed-metal stabilization system relying on organic tin-based stabilizers blended with zinc and calcium stearates. In stark contrast, Sample 2 utilized a highly concentrated methyltin mercaptide package, pointing to a completely different engineering approach to thermal stability.
• Flame Retardants and Suppressants: Both piping samples contained robust flame retardant and smoke suppressant packages, utilizing components such as magnesium hydroxide, rutile, diantimony trioxide, zinc borate, and molybdenum trioxide. However, the exact ratios of these inorganic additives varied slightly between the two, tailored to their respective primary polymer matrices.
