Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) is a method of measuring the relationship between the energy difference between the measured sample and the reference material and the temperature or time under the program temperature control. The DSC8500 is a power compensated DSC, that uses two relatively independent, low-quality furnace bodies with fast response characteristics and more accurate measurement data over a full temperature range. It can be used in the characterization of pharmaceutical materials, the characterization of drug polycrystals, and the analysis of the effect of processing on plastics.
