| Skin compatibility testing | The materials used in the diaper must be gentle to the skin. The materials should not cause any irritation or discomfort. |
| Retention testing | The diaper will not be removed when the defecation occurs, so it must retain the liquid and semi-solid waste for some time. Therefore, Tests have to be performed on the diaper to determine if there exists possibility of leakage or spillage. |
| Integrity testing | Diaper pad must remain in its original position, even if the person wearing the diaper pad is moving. Therefore, tests are required to ensure that the pad does not shift or broken under the impact of the movement. |
| Disposability testing | Diapers can only be used once and must be thrown away after use. So they must be made of materials that can decompose and do not cause too much environmental damage. |
| Microorganism testing | The total number of colonies, molds and yeasts, coliforms, fecal coliforms, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, hemolytic streptococcus, Salmonella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Legionella, etc needs to be tested. |
| Physical and chemical indicator testing | Physical and chemical indicators include appearance size, heavy metals (such as lead, arsenic, mercury), methanol, formaldehyde, pH, moisture content, etc need to be tested. |
| Safety testing | Safety testings include tests for bactericides, preservatives, anti-fungal agents, antibacterial agents, etc. |
