Safe drinking water is considered a vital indicator of a country's development and according to recent reports, about 663 million people around the world do not have access to safe drinking water. Population growth, urbanization and industrialization in most countries have had a deleterious effect on water quality. With more than 50% of the world's population living in cities, and almost 70% expected to be urban by 2050, the pressure on water resources is enormous. While in developing countries, water scarcity is a serious threat to human health, and in developed countries water is often taken for granted, and consumed and managed in a haphazard manner. Moreover, anthropogenic activities and poor management of agricultural and industrial wastes (e.g. illicit discharges, runoff) all contribute to the decline in water quality. There is thus an urgent need for analytical platforms that can combine high-sensitivity, accuracy and rapid analysis with simplicity, portability and low cost, in order to make water analysis (e.g. drinking water, freshwater, wastewater) accessible to water scientists and managers, as well as for interested citizen groups. Drinking water safety is judged by national standards or international guidelines with WHO guidelines for drinking water quality being among the most significant one and implemented by many developing countries. The WHO produces guidelines for drinking-water quality to promote the protection of public health.
Alfa Chemistry ' experts strictly follow WHO's guidelines with a wide range of water services to advocate local standards and regulations. We test water quality, impurity, volatile organic compounds (VOC), microbial contamination, etc. to ensure the water safety and to meet national standards. Alfa Chemistry can provide a great deal of analytical methods to detect water including separation by gas chromatography (GC), followed by on-line mass spectrometry (MS), flame ionization detection (FID) or electron capture detection (ECD), and immediate detection without separation is applied, e.g. by spectroscopic techniques, and direct MS techniques such as membrane inlet MS (MIMS), atmospheric pressure chemical ionization MS (APCI-MS), and proton transfer reaction MS (PTR-MS). With rich experiences in ASTM, EPA, ISO analytical method standards, we are able to collect routine water quality data as you requested.
The problem of testing water quality monitoring data for trend in time has received considerable attention. It is clear that in order to detect or assess trends it is necessary that the data be collected at a given location, by using consistent collection and measurement techniques on a regular schedule and over a substantial number of years. We carry out analytical tests on all types of water, including well water, drinking water, watersheds and rivers, wastewater, stormwater and runoff, in house drinking water, restaurant water, etc.
Water pollution is one of the severe problems that have a crippling effect on public hygiene. The detection of impurities present in the water is of high priority to battle its effects. Drinking water can be contaminated by rain, well, streams, rivers, industry plants, nuclear plant, etc. Dirt or suspended solids, germs, dangerous chemical should be eliminated from drinking water. Common water impurity tests at Alfa Chemistry support semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOC), Trace metal analysis, Residue analysis (Pesticide/Herbicide), Micro-organisms (Pyrogens, Viruses, Enterococcus and Legionella), Suspended Particles, Colloids, Dissolved Inorganic Solids, Dissolved Organics, gas, Heterotrophic plate count (HPC), Total Coliforms, Dioxins, Radioactivity analysis, etc. Trace level detection of VOC, SVOC, heavy metal elements, dangerous chemicals and microbial contaminations will prevent you and your family from potential risks.
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs), due to their toxicity and persistence in the environment, are particularly important pollutants. Some of these compounds are mutagens, teratogens or carcinogens, while others are responsible for the degradation of organoleptic parameters such as taste and odour of water. A wide spectrum of techniques for the isolation and preconcentration of the aforementioned pollutants for trace organic analysis by gas chromatography are presented. Alfa Chemistry can provide analytical tests with regards to Dissolved Oxygen, Total & Reactive Phosphorus, Chromium VI, Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD, CBOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Organic Carbon (TOC), Oil & Grease, Total Phenols and the like.
Physical tests is an important indicator for assessing water quality, including color measurement, relative gravity, conductivity and total ions. Alfa Chemistry is a diversified, full-service environmental company specializing in water quality testing and analysis and is committed to improving water quality, improving the environment, serving and managing the water and wastewater needs of living and industrial. We provide customers with technically reliable and legally based analytical tests. Our core services include water quality analysis, groundwater and NPDES sampling and testing, sludge removal, and wastewater treatment. We possess advanced analytical techniques and equipment that have earned us recognition in the field of environmental analysis.
Water pollution with pathogenic microorganisms is one of the serious threats to human health. Both surface and groundwater in the country are polluted by microorganisms and various toxic compounds. Consumption of water contaminated with pathogenic microorganisms causes several diseases like diarrhea, cholera, typhoid, paratyphoid, hepatitis A, dermatitis, enteric fever, etc. Due to the acute health risks of microbial contamination even from a single time consumption of water, in contrast to chemical contaminants which cause chronic health problems, microbial quality assessment is considered as the single most important water quality test. Seasoned experts and scholars at Alfa Chemistry can provide a great number of analytical tests including Microbial Contamination of Drinking Water, Wastewater Microbiology, Surface Water Microbial Contamination, Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion (MIC), etc.
