In our daily lives of twenty-first century, we all depend on batteries for a variety of power sources. Many products cannot operate without batteries, such as laptop, mobile phones and electric cars. The performances of the battery has received great attention from manufacturers and scientists.
Fig.1 Batteries used in various fields.
There are many types of consumer batteries that are used in our daily appliances, such as Alkaline, Nickel Cadmium, Nickel-Metal Hydride, Lead Acid, Lithium Ion, Silver Oxide, Mercury, Zinc-Carbon Batteries and Primary Lithium batteries. Another device that can convert energy into electricity is Photovoltaics (PV). PV are normally made of semiconductor materials and utilize solar light to generate current. It can provide power to electrical devices such as flashlights, smartphones and even electric cars. The conductivity values of semiconductors normally falls between that of a conductor and an insulator. They are very efficient but do not absorb all colors of light in the solar spectrum, therefore there is a need to search for better semiconductor materials.

Alfa Chemistry offer advanced material testing services for photovoltaics, semiconductords, wafer and batteries such as:
Measuring the thickness, density, and composition of films
Characterizing dopant dose and profile shape
Identifying organic contamination on Si wafers.
Visualizing surface morphology
Quantifying bulk dopants or impurities
Testing semiconductor product
Burn-in and reliability qualification to demonstrate IC fitness.
Testing laboratories of Alfa Chemistry possess many professional devices for ISO and ASTM method testing. Here are some examples:
Hall effect measurement. Hall effect is the effect of carriers in semiconductors under the effect of electric and magnetic fields. Using hall effect measurement, we can research the properties of semiconductor materials and devices, then we can attain the information such as conductive type, carrier concentration and electrolytic energy of impurities, which can help to find out the problems in semiconductor materials or devices.
Electrochemical CV distribution analysis. CV method is a way to use the character of capacitance in P-N junction to get the information about cross-section uniformity and vertical impurity concentration distribution in materials or devices. It suits for the test of multilayer semiconductor materials.
X-ray diffraction analysis. A diffraction pattern can be obtained when an X-ray strikes a crystalline structure. This is a convenient and accurate non-destructive method for the analysis of advanced materials revealing their composition, uniformity and defects information.
Alfa Chemistry is professional in analysis of photovoltaics, semiconductor, wafer & battery for many industries. And accurate and reliable test results can be achieved within the time constraint. Please feel free to contact us if you have any concern or would like us to perform any photovoltaics, semiconductor and wafer & battery testing. Check our instruments list to see our capabilities.
