Ecological textiles refer to textiles that are not harmful to the environment or human health during the entire process from the selection of raw materials to production, sales, use and disposal. They are also known as environmentally friendly textiles or green textiles. It must meet four basic premises:
Resources are renewable or reusable;
No pollution to the environment during the production process;
No harm to human body during wearing and using;
Textiles that can be naturally degraded after being discarded without polluting the environment, that is, textiles with characteristics such as "recyclable, low pollution, and energy saving".
At present, the environmental protection tendency of consumption has covered textile and garment products. In response to public environmental awareness, major European and American textile product buyers have begun to pay attention to the ecological and environmental impact of the textiles they purchase, and have established corresponding quality requirements. Alfa Chemistry provides extensive eco-environmental testing for environmental protection, public health and safety requirements.
The product range tested by Alfa Chemistry:
Product classes
Product classes
Description
Product classes Ⅰ
Products for babies
Products for babies in the context of this standard are all articles, basic materials and accessories, which are provided for the production of articles for babies and children up to the age of 36 months.
Product classes Ⅱ
Products with direct contact to skin
Articles with direct contact to skin are those, which are worn with a large part of their surface in direct contact with the skin (e.g. blouses, shirts, underwear, mattresses, etc.).
Product classes Ⅲ
Products without direct contact with skin
Which are worn with only a little part of their surface in direct contact with the skin (e.g. stuffing, etc.).
Product classes Ⅳ
Decoration material
Decoration material in the context of this standard are all articles including initial products and accessories which are used for decoration such as table cloths, wall coverings, furnishing fabrics and curtains, upholstery fabrics, and floor coverings.
Alfa Chemistry's testing items for eco-textiles
According to the OEKO-TEX Standard 100, which is widely used in the world, the items that must be tested for ecological textiles are: pH value, banned dyes, formaldehyde, heavy metals, chlorophenol, color fastness, pesticide residues, organic chlorine carriers, PVC plasticizers, organic tin, volatile substances, odors, etc. There are more than 100 types of chemical substances involved, and the top five items are currently detected most.
