Remarkably, gambogic acid also promotes the upregulation of LRIG1 (leucine-rich repeat and Ig-like domain-containing-1), a protein that facilitates the degradation of EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) and subsequently inhibits its downstream signaling pathway involving Akt/mTORC1. This compound has demonstrated the ability to inhibit the FGFR signaling pathway in erlotinib-resistant non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), showcasing notable anti-tumor effects. GNA can induce aberrant autophagy, leading to cell death, thereby suggesting its potential as a viable tool or therapeutic agent in anticancer treatments.

Additionally, Gambogenic acid has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of melanoma B16 cells and induce apoptosis within specific time frames and concentration ranges. The mechanism underlying this induced apoptosis may be associated with the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathways.
