Aloe emodin, also known as 1,8-dihydroxy-3-(hydroxymethyl)anthraquinone, is a natural active compound present in the leaves of Aloe vera. This compound is almost insoluble in water and is mainly obtained by extraction from plant materials using different organic solvents or their mixtures or ionic liquids.
