Acting as an agonist for the GLP-1 receptor, geniposide plays a crucial role in regulating the expression of antioxidative proteins such as HO-1 and Bcl-2. It achieves this by activating p90RSK through the MAPK signaling pathway in PC12 cells. Furthermore, geniposide exhibits potential in mitigating hepatic fibrosis by suppressing TGF-β1-induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). It inhibits both the TGFβ/Smad and ERK-MAPK signaling pathways, underscoring its therapeutic potential in liver disease management.
