Resveratrol (3,5,4'-trihydroxystilbene) is a natural polyphenolic phytochemical with a variety of biological activities. Resveratrol was first isolated from the roots of the Japanese plant Polygonum cuspidatum, where it is produced in response to environmental stressors such as injury, fungal infections and UV irradiation ^[1].
