Description

Kaempferol is a flavonoid found in many edible plants and in plants or botanical products commonly used in traditional medicine [1]. It is a low molecular weight yellow compound. Structurally, kaempferol contains diphenylpropane structure, which is the reason for its hydrophobic property. At the molecular level, kaempferol has been reported to modulate some key elements in cellular signal transduction pathways linked to apoptosis, angiogenesis, inflammation and metastasis [2]. As a non-toxic, low-cost monomer ingredient, kaempferol has now shown great economic value.

Health Benefits

  • Cancer Prevention

Some epidemiological studies have found a positive association between the consumption of foods containing kaempferol and a reduced risk of cancer [1]. The anti-cancer effect of kaempferol on skin cancer, liver cancer, colon cancer and other diseases has been confirmed.

  • Anti-Inflammatory Effects

Kaempferol is one of the most effective and important natural anti-inflammatory compounds known. Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, kaempferol can be used to treat many diseases caused by acute and chronic inflammation, including intervertebral disc degeneration and colitis, as well as post menopausal bone loss and acute lung injury [3].

  • Cardiovascular Health

Kaempferol may support heart health by improving blood vessel function, reducing inflammation of the cardiovascular system, and lowering blood pressure.  These effects help reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke.
