Application
Chloro(pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)bis(triphenylphosphine)ruthenium(II), 99%, serves as an effective catalyst in the cycloaddition of azides with acetylenes, uniquely facilitating the exclusive formation of 1,5-disubstituted triazoles. This contrasts with the typical 1,4-regiochemistry observed when copper catalysts are used. The ruthenium-based catalysis is particularly advantageous as it allows for the incorporation of internal acetylenes in these "click cycloadditions," broadening the scope and versatility of the reaction.
