Application
[1,1'-Bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene]dichloropalladium(II) is a versatile red solid palladium catalyst employed in the synthesis of a wide range of chemical compounds. Its primary purpose is to facilitate various coupling reactions, such as C-C and C-N coupling, which are crucial in the creation of complex molecular structures. Notable applications include its use in Suzuki and Stille couplings, essential for forming carbon-carbon bonds. Additionally, it plays a significant role in the preparation of nucleosides used as ectonucleotidase inhibitors. This catalyst is particularly effective in the cross-coupling of sec-alkyl and n-alkyl Grignard reagents, achieving high yield and selectivity. It is also instrumental in the Suzuki coupling of aryl boronic esters with [11C]methyl iodide to produce functionalized [11C]toluene derivatives, and the Kumada cross-coupling of 1,3,5-tribromobenzene with Grignard reagents, which forms star-shaped oligothiophenes.
