Insulin Synthesis

Insulin is a protein hormone secreted by islet beta cells in the pancreas when stimulated by endogenous or exogenous substances such as glucose, lactose, ribose, arginine, glucagon, etc. It plays a crucial role in regulating blood sugar levels in the body. It allows the cells in the body to take in glucose from the bloodstream to use as energy or store for later use. Insulin also helps to lower blood sugar levels after meals by promoting the storage of excess glucose in the liver and muscles. If the amount of insulin in the body is insufficient, diabetes will occur. At present, insulin is still a specific drug for treating diabetes, so the artificial synthesis of insulin has always been a hot topic in the field of biomedicine. Alfa Chemistry offers insulin synthesis services utilizing state-of-the-art technology and expertise in molecular biology. We have a team of experienced research team that can design and optimize the production process to ensure high-quality insulin synthesis.

What We Offer

We are equipped to provide a range of insulin synthesis services to meet your specific needs, including:

  • Custom insulin production. We can use genetic engineering technology, solid-phase synthesis technology, etc. to produce insulin that meets customers' specific requirements.
  • Insulin purification. We purify insulin using advanced chromatography techniques to ensure high purity and quality of the final product.
  • Insulin modification. We can also offer services for modifying insulin to improve its stability, pharmacokinetics, or other desired properties.
  • Insulin characterization. We can provide detailed characterization of the synthesized insulin including structural analysis, purity assessment, and bioactivity testing.
  • Scale-up production. We can scale up the production of insulin to meet the needs of our clients for preclinical or clinical studies.
  • Regulatory support. We can assist in regulatory filings and compliance for the production of insulin, ensuring that all necessary quality standards and regulations are met.

Synthesis Methods

We have mature insulin synthesis technology, which has been widely recognized and affirmed by customers at home and abroad, including:

  • Recombinant DNA technology. This technology involves the use of genetically engineered bacteria or yeast to produce human insulin. The gene encoding human insulin is inserted into a plasmid vector and introduced into the host organism. The host organism can then produce insulin in large quantities, which can be harvested and purified for use in medical treatments.
  • Cell culture technology. Insulin can also be synthesized using cell culture technology, where cells are engineered to produce insulin. These cells are grown in large bioreactors and the insulin produced is purified and used as a therapeutic agent.
  • Protein engineering technology. This technology mainly modifies the structure of insulin to improve its stability, efficacy or pharmacokinetics. This can be done through methods such as site-directed mutagenesis, protein fusion, or chemical modification.
  • Peptide synthesis technology. Insulin can also be synthesized through peptide synthesis methods, where individual amino acids are sequentially added to a growing peptide chain. This method is less commonly used for insulin production compared to the other technologies mentioned above, but it can be useful for generating novel insulin analogs with specific properties.
