Phenylthiohydantoin (PTH)-amino acids are derivatives of amino acids that have been converted into phenylthiohydantoins through a process known as Edman degradation. PTH-amino acids are commonly used in the sequencing of peptides and proteins, as well as in the analysis of complex mixtures of amino acids.
