Description
Cellulase NZs-BE-C001 is a high-performance food-grade cellulase enzyme preparation specifically developed for botanical extraction and plant-based ingredient processing. By hydrolyzing cellulose and other structural polysaccharides in plant cell walls, the enzyme effectively disrupts cellular structures, allowing solvents to penetrate more efficiently and release valuable intracellular bioactive compounds. The product is ideal for improving extraction efficiency from cellulose-rich botanical materials, including roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, seeds, and medicinal herbs. It helps increase extraction yield while reducing viscosity, facilitating filtration, and improving the clarity of extraction solutions. Cellulase NZs-BE-C001 can be used as a standalone enzyme or in combination with pectinase, xylanase, protease, or amylase to maximize process performance for different plant materials.

Typical Application Process
Cellulase NZs-BE-C001 is designed for seamless integration into standard botanical extraction workflows, enhancing extraction efficiency while simplifying downstream processing. Although specific process parameters may vary depending on the botanical material and target compounds, a typical enzyme-assisted extraction process generally includes the following steps:
- Raw material preparation: Select high-quality botanical raw materials such as roots, rhizomes, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, or seeds. Clean and inspect the materials to remove impurities before processing.
- Grinding or milling: Crush or mill the raw materials into appropriate particle sizes to increase the surface area, allowing better contact between the enzyme and plant cell walls and improving extraction efficiency.
- Preparation of extraction slurry: Mix the processed botanical material with water or another compatible extraction solvent to form a homogeneous slurry. Adjust the solid-to-liquid ratio according to the extraction process requirements.
- Enzyme addition and enzymatic extraction: Dissolve Cellulase NZs-BE-C001 in a small amount of water before addition, then introduce it into the extraction system. Maintain the recommended pH and temperature while providing gentle agitation to ensure uniform enzyme distribution and efficient hydrolysis of plant cell wall components.
- Filtration and solid–liquid separation: Following enzymatic treatment, separate the liquid extract from insoluble residues. The reduced viscosity and improved cell wall degradation contribute to faster filtration, higher filtration efficiency, and clearer extracts.
- Concentration (optional): Depending on the desired product specifications, the filtrate may be concentrated using vacuum evaporation or other suitable concentration technologies to increase the content of active ingredients.
- Drying and final product preparation: Convert the concentrated extract into the final product using an appropriate drying method, such as spray drying, vacuum drying, or freeze drying, according to the stability and application requirements of the target ingredients.
Application Rate
The recommended application rate of cellulase NZs-BE-C001 depends on several factors, including the type of botanical raw material, processing equipment, extraction objectives, and operating conditions. As a general guideline, an enzyme dosage of 0.2-1.0% (w/w) based on the dry weight of the raw material is recommended, which is equivalent to approximately 2-10 kg of enzyme per metric ton of raw material. This dosage range is suitable for a variety of botanical extraction applications, including Salvia miltiorrhiza (Danshen) extraction, Pueraria (Kudzu) extraction, and Ganoderma (Reishi) polysaccharide extraction. Since different plant materials vary in cell wall composition and target active compounds, the optimal dosage may differ from one application to another. Therefore, these values should be considered as practical reference guidelines rather than fixed recommendations. To achieve the best extraction efficiency, it is highly recommended to conduct small-scale preliminary trials to optimize key processing parameters, including enzyme dosage, pH, temperature, reaction time, and solid-to-liquid ratio, before scaling up to commercial production.
