Description
Ginsenoside Rg5 is a rare ginsenoside in ginseng prepared by the de-glycosylation of Ginsenoside Rb1 and the carbon at position 20 of Ginsenoside Rg3. The diol-type ginsenoside Rg5 is combined with a sugar segment and has the characteristic of being more water-soluble than other polysaccharide ginsenosides, which facilitates its utilization in the pharmaceutical field [1].
Ginsenoside Rg5 has a variety of pharmacological effects including anticancer, anti-osteoarthritic, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, neuroprotective, cardioprotective and antitumor effects, etc. The biological activity of Ginsenoside Rg5 has been extensively studied, and figure 2 summarizes its action mechanisms [2]. In general, Ginsenoside Rg5 has substantial potential activity for use as a broad spectrum anticancer and anti-inflammatory drug.
