Description
Ginsenoside Re (G-Re,) is a major ginsenoside and important ingredient in ginseng leaf, berry, and root (the Re compound accounts for more than 30% of the total ginsenoside content).
Ginsenoside Re exhibits antiapoptotic, antioxidative, anti-ulcerative, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, anxiolytic, antidepressant, anti-diabetic, anti-allergic, cardioprotective, and immunostimulatory activities via different mechanisms. Figure 1) [1] Shows the typical beneficial effects of Ginsenoside Re. The relevant pharmacological mechanisms of Ginsenoside Re include the regulation of cholinergic and antioxidant systems in the brain; induction of apoptosis in tumor cells; inhibition of tau protein hyperphosphorylation and oxidative stress; activation of p38MAPK, ERK1/2, and JNK signals; improvement of lipid metabolism; and reduction of endothelial cell dysfunction, and so on [2].
