Description

Ginsenoside Rc is a PPD (protopanaxadiol)-type bioactive ginsenoside, which are present at high concentrations in several commercially available ginseng products. Ginsenoside Rc has been reported to have various biological activities, such as antioxidative, antinociceptive, and anti-diabetic activities, inhibiting photoaging, oxidative stress, formalin-induced nociception, and inflammatory responses as well as increasing the life span of Caenorhabditis elegans.

The efficacy maybe because that Ginsenoside Rc has the ability to reduce the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) through the suppression of superoxide-induced free radicals. Ginsenoside Rc can increase the deacetylase activity of SIRT6, thereby lowering acetylated NRF2 levels, and subsequently exerting an antioxidant effect. In addition, Ginsenoside Rc is shown to reduce TNF-α, IL-1β, and the activation of TANK-binding kinase-1 (TBK1)/interferon regulatory factor-3 (IRF-3) and p38/activating transcription factor-2 (ATF-2) [1].
