Description
Ginsenoside Rb1 is one of the most abundant and important components isolated from the Panax genus. The main sources of Ginsenoside Rb1 are members of the ginseng genus, Panax ginseng (Asian ginseng), Panax quinquefolius (American ginseng) and panax notoginseng. Ginsenoside Rb1 has been found in higher concentrations in panax quinquefolius and panax notoginseng roots (~2-4%) than in panax ginseng root (~0.2-0.8%) [1].
Ginsenoside Rb1 can regulate mitochondrial function in a variety of ways (see figure 1). And it has been shown to exert numerous beneficial effects on the human body, including effects on the central nervous system, cardiovascular system, and immune system and antitumor activities [2].
