Description

Ginsenoside compound K (CK, [20-o-beta-dglucopyranosyl-20 (S)-protopanaxadiol ) is a rare ginsenoside made from the conversion of ginseng actives by intestinal bacteria with a dammarane-type tetracyclic triterpenoid structure. And it is widely agreed that Ginsenoside CK has higher bioavailability than parental ginsenosides (including Rb1, Rb2, and Rc) and is a major contributor to the health benefits of ginseng. It has shown a variety of interesting biological activities including anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-angiogenic, anti-aging, neuroprotective and hepatoprotective effects, etc. [1]. Figure 1 shows the transformation and pharmacological activity of Ginsenoside CK [2].
