Analysis Method


Alfa Chemistry provides customers with professional optical property analysis services for aerogels by using the most mature method, that is, the integrating sphere method. This method is used to determine the spectral normal-hemispherical transmittance and reflectance of samples at room temperature. The normally incident light is reflected or refracted by the sample and then travels inside the integrating sphere. After multiple scattering reflections at the inner surface, a uniform irradiance distribution will appear at the inner surface of integrating sphere. Then the normal-hemispherical transmittance and reflectance can be derived from the irradiance of incident light and the measured output radiance. To measure the directional-hemispherical reflectance and transmittance of aerogels at a specific wavelength, UV-VIS-NIR spectrophotometer and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer are often used in combination with the integrating sphere.
