Product Features
Core Material and Structure
The core of the insulation blanket is a silica (SiO2) aerogel matrix with a nanoporous structure. This structure minimizes heat transfer between solids and gases, resulting in a thermal conductivity as low as 0.017W/(m·K) at room temperature and ≤0.030W/(m·K) even at 300°C. The aerogel is uniformly dispersed and reinforced in a strong glass fiber network, forming a composite blanket that is both lightweight, highly flexible and mechanically resilient.
Excellent Hydrophobicity at High Temperatures
One of the outstanding features of this aerogel blanket is its long-lasting hydrophobicity at high temperatures. While many insulation materials lose their hydrophobicity at high temperatures, this product can still maintain a hydrophobicity of ≥99% at 300°C. This feature effectively prevents moisture intrusion, thereby reducing the risk of corrosion under insulation (CUI) and significantly extending the service life of pipes and equipment.
Thermal Performance and Durability
Aerogel insulation blankets can withstand continuous operating temperatures from -70°C to 650°C, providing reliable thermal protection in both low and high temperature environments. Its compression resilience is ≥90%, ensuring dimensional stability and long life under mechanical stress. In addition, its tensile strength exceeds 2000kPa (transverse) and 600kPa (longitudinal), ensuring robustness during handling and installation.
Environmental and Safety Compliance
The product is non-combustible. The insulation material is without the emission of harmful substances during installation and operation. Free from asbestos, formaldehyde, and benzene. Does not create health risks for workers or end-users. The insulation blanket is completely recyclable and a step towards sustainable engineering by preventing energy losses and reducing maintenance requirements.
Applications
This advanced insulation blanket is optimized for critical industrial and transportation environments that demand both thermal insulation and water repellency at high temperatures:
- Prefabricated insulation pipes
- Steam and thermal oil pipelines in petrochemical plants
- Turbines, boilers, and long-distance heat distribution networks in power generation
- Marine steam pipelines and exhaust ducts
- Subway and high-speed rail vehicle insulation
- Fire-resistant and thermal insulation layers in electric vehicles

FAQs
1. Can the hydrophobic aerogel blanket be used in environments where water vapor is present at high temperatures?
Yes. The product maintains ≥99% hydrophobicity even at 300 °C, making it ideal for high-moisture, high-temperature conditions like steam pipelines.
2. How does this blanket compare with traditional insulation in terms of thickness?
It requires only 1/5 to 1/3 of the thickness of traditional insulation materials to achieve the same thermal performance, reducing bulk and facilitating installation.
3. Is the blanket fire-resistant?
Yes. It meets Class A fire resistance standards, offering excellent flame retardancy for safety-critical environments.
4. Can this material be reused after dismantling?
Yes. It is a durable, non-toxic, and fully recyclable material, suitable for reuse in various applications.
5. Is the product safe for workers during installation?
Absolutely. It contains no harmful chemicals such as asbestos or formaldehyde and is safe for human contact.
6. Does the product release any fibers or dust during cutting?
Minimal. While minor particulate generation is possible, standard protective equipment (gloves and masks) is sufficient to handle installation safely.
7. Does it require any surface coating to maintain hydrophobicity?
No. The hydrophobicity is an intrinsic property of the aerogel matrix and does not degrade under normal high-temperature operating conditions.
8. Is the insulation blanket suitable for cryogenic use?
Yes. It performs effectively down to -70 °C, making it suitable for both cryogenic and high-temperature scenarios.
