Product Description
Salicylic acid-cyclodextrin-complex, abbreviated as salicylic acid-CD-complex, is an inclusion complex obtained by encapsulating salicylic acid into the cavity of a CD molecule.
Salicylic acid is a fat-soluble beta-hydroxy acid derived from willow bark. It can penetrate the lipid layer between the skin, dissolve acne, and reduce inflammation, thus helping to relieve acne redness and swelling. In addition, salicylic acid has the effects of exfoliating, whitening, evening skin tone, and reducing wrinkles. Salicylic acid has good anti-inflammatory and topical antibacterial effects on the skin, enabling it to be useful in skin care products to treat mild acne. It is a key ingredient in facial cleansers, shower gels, lotions, and facial masks.
- Reasons for developing our product
The use of salicylic acid in acne treatment is beneficial, but it also has some limitations. This organic acid is slightly soluble in fats and oils, and has a low solubility in water. It is also irritating to the skin, and can thin the stratum corneum when used in high concentrations. Alcohol has been found to be a carrier that can carry salicylic acid through the stratum corneum quickly, but can cause a stinging sensation on the skin. Therefore, new dosage forms need to be developed to better exert the effects of salicylic acid.
