Zirconium(IV) acetate hydroxide is utilized primarily as a precursor in the synthesis of various advanced materials. It serves as a key component in the formation of monoclinic zirconium dioxide nanoparticles through a thermal treatment process that incorporates polyvinylpyrrolidone as a capping agent. Additionally, it is integral to producing zirconia-doped lithium cobalt oxide (Zr-LiCoO2) by reacting with lithium acetate and cobalt acetate via the sol-gel method. Furthermore, zirconium(IV) acetate hydroxide is used to create yttrium-stabilized zirconia nanoparticles through a co-precipitation method involving yttrium acetate tetrahydrate and oxalic acid dihydrate.
