Application
Tris(1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-propyl) phosphite serves as a catalyst when used with a rhodium complex in the hydroformylation of olefins. This compound is a sterically hindered ligand that exhibits weak σ-donation and strong π-acceptance properties, making it effective in such catalytic processes. It can be synthesized by reacting the lithium salt of 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-propoxide with phosphorus trichloride (PCl3), and it also interacts with nucleosides to produce deoxyribonucleoside 3'-bis(1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-propyl) phosphite units.
