It is particularly effective in the preparation of cyclopentylamine derivatives through the cycloaddition of N-arylcyclopropylamines with styrene derivatives. Additionally, this compound is utilized in the synthesis of trans-substituted cyclohexene derivatives and endoperoxides via photocatalytic aerobic [2+2+2] cycloadditions. It facilitates the aerobic oxidation of tertiary aliphatic amines and supports the efficient synthesis of methylene-bridged bis-1,3-dicarbonyl compounds. This photocatalyst also aids in the hydrophosphinylation of unactivated alkenes with secondary phosphine oxides and is used in the photooxygenation of aryl cyclopropanes. The compound can be synthesized from 2-iodopyrazine.
