Application
Tricarbonyldichlororuthenium(II) dimer, an off-white to slightly yellow powder, serves several important purposes in medical and scientific applications. It is primarily used to improve coagulation and reduce vulnerability to fibrinolysis, as well as to influence thrombus growth and disintegration. Additionally, it enhances fibrinogen's role as a substrate for thrombin and aids in the regulation of ion transport mediated by gasotransmitters. Beyond these functions, it plays a crucial role in various pharmacological studies and acts as a carbon monoxide donor for the reactive oxygen species-mediated killing of bacteria.
