Application
Titanium(III) fluoride is a red to brown crystalline powder that forms stable blue rhombic crystals. Notably resistant to acids and bases, this compound remains stable in air. It begins to sublime at approximately 930°C under a vacuum of less than 0.1 mm and has a melting point exceeding 1100°C. With a density of 2.98 g/cm³, it is insoluble in water and alcohol. At 950°C, it disproportionates to titanium(IV) fluoride and titanium. Titanium(III) fluoride is primarily utilized in laboratory settings and the manufacture of various chemicals.
