Primarily, it is used in ester exchange reactions and acts as an effective cross-linking agent and condensation catalyst. Its notable application in the production of heat-resistant paints, capable of withstanding temperatures up to 500°C, improves the adhesion of these coatings, along with rubber and plastics, to metal surfaces. Additionally, it plays a critical role in synthesizing nanosized titania powders, including anatase form and ferroelectric bismuth titanate thin films. As a valuable intermediate and additive, Tetrabutyl Orthotitanate is utilized in paint and coating formulations, enhances processing, and serves as a process regulator.
