Application
The purpose of RuCl2[(R)-xylbinap][(R)-daipen] is to serve as a highly effective catalyst for the asymmetric hydrogenation of amino ketones, delivering high enantioselectivity, particularly with sterically unsymmetrical ketones. This compound facilitates the hydrogenation of ketones such as acetophenone, heteroaryl ketones, benzophenones, cyclopropyl ketones, and cyclohexyl ketones with superior enantioselective outcomes compared to traditional BINAP. The process is aided by hydrogen bonding to the protic bidentate amine, which stabilizes the transition state, enabling selective reduction of carbonyl groups even in the presence of olefins. Moreover, when combined with a strong base, RuCl2[(R)-xylbinap][(R)-daipen] can promote dynamic kinetic resolution of simple ketones bearing α-substituents, resulting in the formation of two chiral carbon centers with high yield.
