Application
Nickel(II) oxalate dihydrate, a light green powder, is a versatile compound with significant importance in various fields. It precipitates as a green powder when oxalic acid or alkali-metal oxalate solutions are added to nickel(II) salt solutions. Upon heating in a vacuum, it releases water at 150 ℃ and fully decomposes at 300 ℃, yielding finely divided nickel that is ideal for catalytic applications and the production of nickel carbonyl. This compound is crucial in the manufacture of nickel catalysts and magnetic materials and serves as an essential raw material and intermediate in organic synthesis, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and dyestuffs.
