Similar to how self-assembled monolayers of 2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-Octaethyl-21H,23H-porphine vanadium(IV) oxide on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite were studied using scanning tunneling microscopy for their role in creating [VO(OH)2(OEP?)]SbCl6, this complex is utilized for its unique properties that make it ideal for initiating the formation of such specialized compounds.
