Application
Manganese(II) chloride monohydrate serves as a versatile compound with numerous applications in various chemical processes. It is primarily used as a starting material for the preparation of organomanganese chloride reagents. When combined with RLi or RMgX, it effectively catalyzes the reduction of vinyl and aryl halides, facilitates the stereoselective coupling of vinyl iodides, and supports the alkylation of enol triflates. Additionally, it plays a crucial role in Mn-Cu-catalyzed conjugate addition of RMgX to enones and Mn-catalyzed acylation of RMgX by acyl chlorides. Furthermore, in combination with NaBH4, it acts as a diastereoselective reducing agent and is employed as a starting material for the regio- and stereoselective preparation of manganese enolates.
