Application

Indium(II) chloride serves as a versatile and efficient catalyst for numerous organic reactions in aqueous environments. Its mild Lewis acid properties make it ideal for processes such as C-C bond formation, aldol reactions, Friedel-Crafts acylation, and Diels-Alder reactions, as well as reductions. Beyond these applications, it excels in thioacetalization and demonstrates remarkable chemoselectivity. A notable feature of indium(II) chloride is its ability to catalyze the enantioselective ring-opening of meso-aziridines with thiols, and it proves to be a highly effective catalyst in water for synthesizing furyl glycosides. As a hygroscopic white crystalline powder, it decomposes in water to produce indium(III) chloride and indium, and its unique chemical properties make it a valuable asset in organic synthesis.

Efficient Catalyst for Organic Synthesis

I used Alfa Chemistry's Indium(II) chloride in my research for Diels-Alder reactions. It performed excellently as a Lewis acid catalyst, facilitating smooth reactions and enhancing yield. Highly recommend for aqueous organic reactions.
