Application
Germanium(IV) methoxide serves multiple purposes in various advanced applications. It acts as a promoting agent for vanadyl pyrophosphate-catalyzed oxidation reactions, facilitating these chemical processes. This compound is instrumental in preparing sol-gel hybrid organic-inorganic coatings, which are essential for capillary microextension and gas chromatography (GC) techniques. Additionally, it plays a role in the formation of metal(IV) β-cyclodextrin bucket wheel complexes. Germanium(IV) methoxide is also used in developing gold nanoparticle templated germania nanoshells. Furthermore, it functions as a sol-gel intermediate in the synthesis of GeS2 and is utilized in crafting IR-transparent optical materials.
