Application
Dilithium Tetrachlorocopper(II) (ca. 2.5% in Tetrahydrofuran, ca. 0.1mol/L) is a versatile clear orange to brown-red solution utilized in various chemical reactions to enhance efficiency and selectivity. This organic-soluble copper catalyst is particularly effective in coupling alkyl halides with alkyl Grignard reagents, thereby facilitating complex molecule synthesis. Additionally, it plays a crucial role in the halogenation of pyrimidine nucleosides. The catalyst is employed in catalytic quantities to improve the displacement efficiency of halides and allylic acetates when used with Grignard reagents. Moreover, in stoichiometric amounts, it is instrumental in opening epoxides and aziridines, thus broadening its utility in synthetic organic chemistry.
