Application
D-Tryptophan, the D-form of the amino acid tryptophan, serves a unique role distinct from its stereoisomer, L-tryptophan. It is primarily utilized in human embryonic kidney (HEK-293) cell culture, providing a pivotal tool for biological research. Unlike L-tryptophan, which is incorporated into structural and enzyme proteins, D-Tryptophan does not form part of protein structures but rather finds use as a sweetener in scientific studies. Specifically, it aids in examining the release of incretins from enteroendocrine cells when activated by sugars, offering insights into cellular responses that are not triggered by sweeteners. Presenting as a white crystalline powder, D-Tryptophan is slightly soluble in water and demonstrates different solubility properties compared to strong acids, ethanol, and other organic solvents. Notably similar in physical and chemical properties to L-tryptophan except for optical activity, D-Tryptophan plays a significant role in the understanding of human and animal growth, development, and metabolism.

Crucial for Cell Culture Research

I've successfully used Alfa Chemistry's D-Tryptophan in HEK-293 cell culture studies. Its role in testing incretin release is impactful, offering reliability in research. A must-have for consistent, high-quality results in cell studies!
