Application
1,3-Bis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)imidazolinium chloride serves as a precursor to N-heterocyclic carbene catalysts and is available as a beige to pink-brown powder. This compound plays a crucial role in facilitating various chemical reactions due to its ability to form complexes with metal pre-catalysts, displaying high catalytic activity. Its applications are diverse, including regioselective cycloadditions of terminal acetylenes with azides to produce 1,4-disubstituted triazoles, and it can also work with internal acetylenes. Additionally, it is instrumental in Markovnikov-type hydration of terminal alkynes, hydrosilylation of ketones, cycloadditions of azides and alkynes, Suzuki-Miyaura reactions, and luminescence experiments.
