Bis(2,4-pentanedionato)palladium(II) serves as a multifunctional compound with significant applications in both medical and chemical fields. It is an active anticancer agent that has demonstrated a greater inhibitory effect on the growth of several cancer cells, including H460 cells, compared to cisplatin. Additionally, this compound acts as a versatile catalyst in a range of organic transformations, making it invaluable in chemical synthesis. It is used in the high-temperature organic solution phase protocol to produce monodisperse CuPd alloy nanoparticles and is integral in the preparation of [(NHC)Pd(acac)L] complexes, which efficiently catalyze the Heck reaction of activated aryl bromides. Furthermore, it facilitates the decarboxylative cross-coupling of arylcarboxylic acids with aryl halides. As a metal-organic complex, its sublimation properties have been studied under thermogravimetry and XRD, revealing stability in the temperature range of 100-160°C in the presence of helium, without undergoing thermal decomposition.
