Furthermore, it's involved in the creation of 5,6-Dimethyl-9-oxo-9H-xanthene-4-acetic Acid Methyl Ester, a derivative of the drug Vadimezan. This compound also serves as a precursor to various metal catalysts: Pd catalysts for C-N and C-C coupling reactions, Ni catalysts for C-N coupling reactions, and Cu catalysts for copper hydride reactions. Additionally, it functions as a ligand in double carbonylation reactions and Ru-catalyzed carbonylative C-H cyclization of 2-aryl phenols. Notably, it demonstrates activity against all stages of Trypanosoma Cruzi, offering potential as a treatment for Chagas disease.
