It functions as a chemosensor for detecting fluoride ions and acts as a sensor for identifying toxic benzene metabolites, including phenol, hydroquinone, resorcinol, catechol, and p-benzoquinone. As a tridentate nitrogen donor ligand, it reacts with UO2Cl2·3THF to form complexes, illustrating its reactivity and coordination capabilities. Additionally, it is an effective anion receptor that enables the detection of acetate ions through chemical shift and optical signal modifications. As a V-shaped ligand, its complexation abilities are further demonstrated in the preparation of its picrate Mn(II) complex. The compound is also employed as an optical sensor for aniline recognition, showcasing its broad applications in chemical sensing and detection.
