Application
The product, (2,2'-Bipyridine)bis[3,5-difluoro-2-[5-(trifluoromethyl)-2-pyridinyl-kN][phenyl-kC]iridium(III) hexafluorophosphate, 95%, serves as a versatile photoredox catalyst, particularly when used in conjunction with a nickel catalyst. It facilitates the cross-coupling of C-sp3 hybridized trifluoroborates with aryl bromides under mild conditions, proving effective in various applications. Its capabilities extend to the chemo-, regio-, and stereoselective trifluoromethylation of styrene. Additionally, this catalyst is instrumental in the synthesis of benzylic ethers through Ir/Ni dual catalysis, in catalytic olefin hydroamidation via proton-coupled electron transfer, and in the visible light photoredox cross-coupling of acyl chlorides with potassium alkoxymethyltrifluoroborates. It also supports photoredox/nickel dual catalytic cross-coupling involving secondary alkyl β-trifluoroboratoketones and esters with aryl bromides, as well as the cross-coupling of trifluoroalkylboranes.
