Beyond its application in synthesizing organometallic compounds like gold(I)-DVTMDS and palladium(II)-DVTMDS, Karstedt's catalyst plays a crucial role in the catalytic hydrogenation of aldehydes and ketones, as well as the oxidation of organic compounds.
